Speaker:Dr. Steven X. Wang (Department of Mathematics and Statistics, York University)

Time:2019-05-30 15:00-16:00

Venue:Room 1479, Sciences Building No. 1

Abstract: In this talk, we will first review a few data mining techniques including an algorithm for clustering categorical data and theoretical analysis of dynamic clustering algorithms. We will then present an algorithm for analyzing noisy biological data and also results from statistical analysis of DNA methylation data. We will also discuss challenges and opportunities in applying data mining and big data techniques in health care.
